What is Momentum Bell?

Momentum Bell is a free, live-updating watchlist of US-listed stocks that are moving and drawing heavy trading activity right now. A scanner looks for stocks that meet a price range, a minimum percentage gain and a minimum dollar volume, then ranks them with the Momentum Bell Score, a measure of how much real-time trading attention each one is getting. The list updates instantly during premarket, regular and after-hours sessions, and is empty when the market is closed.

Being on the list is not a recommendation. Fast-moving, low-priced stocks carry a high risk of loss, and the data may be delayed or incomplete. Momentum Bell is for information and education only and is not investment advice.

GREENAbove 100 — High attention

What it means: This stock is among the busiest names on the list right now. Heavy trading activity is building around it, which is why it stands out from the rest.

What to do: Open the news and the chart, check the price, and compare Change% with Max Change to see how much of the move is already done. Above 500 the row lights up with a 🔥 fire banner. With Sound on, a rising alert sound plays when a score first crosses 100.

A high score means a stock is busy, not that its price will keep rising. Hypothetical screenshot with sample data.

AMBER70 – 100 — Building attention

What it means: Activity is picking up, but it hasn't reached the high-attention zone yet. Amber rows are worth keeping an eye on.

What to do: Watch the direction. A score that keeps climbing towards 100 can mean interest is building; one sliding back toward grey means it is fading. No alert sound plays yet; that comes when the score crosses 100.

Scores move from second to second, so judge the trend over a few minutes, not a single reading. Hypothetical screenshot with sample data.

What it means: The stock passes the filters (price, % change and dollar volume), but trading activity is ordinary right now. Most rows spend most of their time here.

What to do: Treat it as background. It becomes interesting when a neutral row starts turning amber or green.

VIEWSAll Movers and Focus: two views of one watchlist

What it means: All Movers is the full list of stocks that are passing the site's filters right now. Focus is a shorter list of the same stocks, narrowed down by a stricter filter, so you see fewer rows and less noise.

What to do: Start in All Movers for the wide view, and switch to Focus when you want a shorter list to watch. Point at either button on the live page to see its current settings. The score colors work the same way in both.

What it means: With Sound on, the page plays a short rising alert sound each time a stock's score climbs above 100 into the green zone. There is no alert sound for amber or neutral rows.

What to do: Tap the Sound button at the top of the page to switch between Off and On, turn your device volume up, and keep the page open in a tab. Browsers only allow sound after you have tapped or clicked the page once, so switch it on yourself. A stock that dips just under 100 and comes back soon does not trigger the alert sound again, so you are not buzzed repeatedly.
